Europe looks to scrap roaming fees by 2014
A package of EU measures passed on Tuesday will see the end of roaming charges for calls and text messages from 1 July 2014.
According to a report in the Telegraph, European Commissioners are looking to create a single market for telecommunications,eliminating the fragmentation created by having over 100 carriers operating in a market comparable to the US, which only has four.
If passed, mobile phone carriers could stand to lose out on 2% of their revenue.
A detailed draft of the propsals is due to be published in the next six weeks.
