The agreement will see Esat BT directly market and supply the full NEC range of DXE business communications systems available to the SME business sector in Ireland.

The NEC DXE telephony product range is designed to meet the needs of small to medium sized businesses. It includes such technologies as voice over IP (VoIP), CTI, unified messaging and call centre functionality. The DXE range of enterprise telephony systems facilitates migration to converged voice and data IP telephony.

Leo O’ Leary, head of indirect channels at Esat BT, said, ‘Today’s announcement is of strategic significance to Esat BT as it enables us for the first time to directly target the SME sector with a world class and competitively priced range of telephony systems which we can wrap around our existing support and communications services.’

Doug Lawes, managing director of NEC Infrontia’s European operation, said Esat BT’s expertise in the telephony arena, its large customer base and its strategic commitment to enter the telephony market were key elements behind NEC’s decision to sign with Esat BT.

‘We are very excited about the prospects for the Irish market. The combination of our product range and Esat BT’s service portfolio makes for a highly competitive fit for the Irish SME sector, delivering improved business efficiencies and reducing overall communications costs.’

To launch the new product offering, Esat BT is offering competitive financing packages available from EUR83.94 per month over a period of five years on an 8-16 extension NEC DXE 24 phone system.
