Networking and security distributor Commtech Solutions has acquired the product range of Antefacto for an undisclosed fee.

Antefacto was an Irish company which ceased trading in July after two years in business. It had developed a server management appliance designed for high-availability environments.

Under the terms of the deal, Commtech has bought the Antefacto S1000 Web server load balancing device and also receives related intellectual property, a sales distribution network and a variety of associated assets.

‘We think this is a major opportunity for Commtech to further penetrate the Web market in a way that complements our existing product lines,’ commented Justin Owens, CEO of Commtech. The Dublin-based firm has a portfolio that includes products such as Internet data mining products from Webtrends and Accrue. It also supplies security and networking products from SonicWALL, eSafe, SurfControl, NetIQ, Mri and Draytek.

Commtech plans to develop the product range it has just acquired, Owens confirmed. ‘Our next project will be to release a Bandwidth management solution based on the S1000 device,’ he said.

Commtech has undertaken to support Antefacto customers. Clients who bought a S1000 system from an authorised channel partner will see no change to support or service, the company said. Direct customers can call +353 (0)1-860 2770 for telephone support.
