EBS Building Society has teamed up with IT services group Calyx to address the security threat of data loss and virus alerts posed by USB devices.

Calyx deployed a Check Point solution designed to prevent unauthorised copying of sensitive data from enterprise laptops and PCs through a centrally managed port control, content filtering and media encryption.

The Check Point Endpoint Security Media Encryption (CPEP-ME) system gives the EBS enhanced system integrity, virus prevention, real-time logging and automated alerts.

EBS information security officer David Cahill said: “We have also ensured compliance objectives are met and [that] we are able to run a complete audit of device usage.”

EBS, which has over 600 staff and 430,000 customers nationwide, previously looked to Calyx Security for anti-spam and anti-virus advice.
