BMC rolls out low-cost monitoring

BMC Software’s Patrol Express agentless monitoring software is a cheaper lightweight version of the company’s Patrol enterprise management system.

Out-of-the-box, Patrol Express permits customers to monitor remotely a wide range of platforms and applications across firewalls, in a secure manner.

Agents are not required on the device being monitored, which reduces overhead and complexity. Patrol Express provides customer and administrator reports, such as service-level attainment reports and alert history reports and enables IT organisations to quickly deliver consistent, reliable service at a competitive cost.

It allows enterprise customers to monitor the health of their applications and enables their customers to maximise enterprise productivity, thus giving them confidence that applications are performing optimally.

Patrol Express is fully integrated with Patrol and allows customers to scale easily, from the standalone Patrol Express product for less critical systems to a distributed configuration of the more comprehensive Patrol software for mission-critical systems. Patrol identifies application and performance parameters that are out of service-level compliance and provides the capability to automatically take corrective action before the problem impacts completion of critical business processes. The solution is designed to increase application availability and reduce costs that may be associated with system bottlenecks.
