Bucking the perception of technology as being a largely male domain, three women are introducing a new event to the social media calendar: Blog Awards Ireland. Taking place on 13 October 2012 in the Osprey Hotel in Naas, Co Kildare, the event is being put together by experienced bloggers Lorna Sixsmith, Amanda Webb and Beatrice Whelan and is the third project the team has been involved in, having already put together the KLCK bloggers network and last year’s Bloggers International Conference.
Beatrice Whelan said: "The Irish Blogosphere is an amazing assortment of creativity and knowledge. The Blog Awards give us the opportunity to meet offline and reward the best Irish bloggers who are constantly improving their blogs. No other event brings together such a vast variety of interests in one room."
Thirty awards will be presented on the night in categories as diverse as Best Personal Blog, Best Blog of a Business, Best Designed Blog, and Best Crafts Blog.
Early bird ticket are now available online for €30, which includes a gala dinner.
Nominations close on 16 July.
