Best PC buys 2002 – OVERALL VERDICT
Overall verdict
This year’s Editor’s Choice for best buy in Family PCs went to Dundalk-based iQon, for the iQon Multimedia by Philips PC. Not only did the PC have a good technical specification, but it also had quality peripherals and a diverse software bundle. The iQon machine was also one of the best looking machines in the round-up, and performed best in the PC World Bench4 speed test.
The Best Ease of Use was a toss up between the Paradise PC and the Apple iMac G4; the Paradise PC eventually walked off with the prize.
The Dell Dimension machine won the Best Technical Spec award, with its 2.5GHz Pentium 4 chip, 512Mbyte RAM, 80Gbyte hard drive, 64Mbyte GeForce4 Ti 4200 graphics card and a DVD ROM drive and CD RW drive.
The Best Warranty and Support badge was awarded to Fujitsu Siemens for an impressive three-year on-site warranty, with three year of telephone help desk support.
Finally, the best budget PC was awarded to PC Superstore for offering an impressively specified PC for EUR1299.
