Irish AV equipment supplier Tyrell has overhauled post production facilities at the Limerick Institute of Technology, providing equipment for its video and sound technology degree course and its music technology degree course.
LIT now has a fast way of transferring and sharing data for students to work with, thanks to Tyrell’s installation of Avid’s Unity shared storage solution, which provides a central storage platform for PCs to share video and audio assets.
LIT IT manager Niall Corcoran noted: “Tyrell’s expert knowledge of Avid and Digidesign software allowed us to successfully adapt the system to meet the demands of the learning environment.”
Tyrell’s Bryan Malone commented: “We provided an end-to-end solution where we specify, install and support the equipment, and provide training where needed.”
Tyrell has previously worked with broadcasters such as RTE, TV3, Setanta Sports and UTV, making it well positioned to provide the type of equipment needed “to supply the next generation of film and programme makers with a platform for success in this industry,” said Tyrell’s David O’Beirne.
