Maxtor’s Atlas 10K III is said to be the industry’s first Ultra320 SCSI drive that is backwards-compatible and ideal for high data-throughput applications such as streaming multimedia audio and video, video editing, data warehousing, Web servers and RAID arrays.

The 10K III drive has a rotational speed of 10,000rpm, an average seek time of 4.5 ms and is the only currently released hard drive with a full implementation of the mandatory and optional Ultra320 SCSI interface features as defined in T10/SPI-4 rev 7 draft standard features. This includes MaxAdapt technology, Maxtor’s implementation of adaptive active filtration (AAF) for optimal data integrity and system performance. Offered in capacities from 18 GB to 73 GB, the Atlas 10K III Ultra 320 drive is an industry leader in capacity.

Both Maxtor Atlas 10K III Ultra160 and Ultra320 disk drives are currently available with Maxtor’s Shock Protection System, Data Protection, Thermal and Shock Sensors, and SMART Compliance features.
