Apple unleashes “visual intelligence” on iPhone 15 Pro models
Apple continues its innovation journey with the release of iOS 18.4 beta 2, which offers iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max users exciting new features. This update introduces ‘visual intelligence’ a feature originally introduced on the iPhone 16, to these premium models.
This powerful tool takes advantage of the action button on the left side of the phone, allowing users to instantly capture information about their surroundings. Simply point your camera at an object, a business or even a poster advertising an event, and visual intelligence delivers relevant details. Imagine scanning a restaurant menu with your phone and getting it instantly translated, or pointing your camera at a plant to find out its name and care requirements.
To unlock this feature, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max owners must install iOS 18.4 beta 2. Go to Settings > Action Button and select the Visual Intelligence icon. A long press on the action button now will activate your camera. Use the ‘questions’ icon for insights provided by ChatGPT or tap ‘search’ for Google search results related to what’s in your viewfinder.
Visual Intelligence goes beyond information retrieval. It can summarise text, read aloud and even identify animals and plants. While some may see this as similar to existing tools like Google Lens or Circle to Search, any new feature on their devices is a reason for tech enthusiasts to celebrate. If you are part of the iOS 18 beta programme, update your phone to iOS 18.4 beta 2 via Settings > General > Software Update and explore the world of visual intelligence.
