Apple fans will have a busy week at the end of this month. On 22 October, the company has announced a special event, reported by AllThingsD as a launch event for a new line of iPads.

It’s likely we’ll also get a release date and pricing for OS X Mavericks and the redesigned Mac Pro.

Later that week, 25 October, Irish consumers will get their first taste of the iPhone 5s and 5c smartphones. According to a release from Apple the 5s will retail for €699 for the 16Gb model, €799 for 32Gb, and €899 for 64Gb. The 5c will sell for €599 for 16Gb and €699 for 32Gb. Prices quoted are SIm free.

Apple has yet to release sales figures but a report this week on Venturebeat said both initial stocks of the 5s and 5c had sold out within 10 days of their release on 20 September.

If pricing is to be taken as an indicator of how the handsets are donig – Apple hasn’t released official sales figures yet – then it looks like the premium 5s is proving the more successful of the two models. The 5c has already been subject to a price drop, some outlets in the US charging as little as €48 with a two-year contract.

Still, Apple won’t be unduly concerned as both models are outselling Samsung’s Galaxy S4, according to a report in technology news website TechCrunch.
