Apple reveals M5 chip and flagship devices
Apple today refreshed its MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and Vision Pro lineups with one distinct element in common: the new M5 chip.
A new 14″ MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and Vision Pro headset all use the M5, which introduces a next-generation 10-core GPU architecture with a Neural Accelerator in each core, enabling GPU-based AI workloads to run dramatically faster, with over 4x the peak GPU compute performance compared to M4.
The GPU also offers enhanced graphics capabilities and third-generation ray tracing that combined deliver a graphics performance that is up to 45% higher than M4.
According to Apple, the M5 features the world’s fastest performance core, with up to a 10-core CPU made up of six efficiency cores and up to four performance cores, delivering up to 15% faster multithreaded performance over M4.
The M5 also features an improved 16-core Neural Engine, a powerful media engine, and a nearly 30% increase in unified memory bandwidth to 153Gb/s.

MacBook Pro 14″
The 14″ MacBook Pro delivers up to 3.5x the AI performance and up to 1.6x faster graphics than the previous generation. M5 also includes a faster and more efficient CPU, an enhanced Neural Engine, and higher memory bandwidth that accelerates everything from launching apps to running large language models on device.
Additionally, it offers phenomenal battery life of up to 24 hours, so users can take their pro workflows anywhere. With the latest storage technology, the new 14″ MacBook Pro with M5 brings faster SSD performance than the previous generation for tasks like importing RAW image files or exporting large videos.
Other features include Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, a 12MP Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system, a wide array of ports, Apple Intelligence capabilities, and out of the box runs macOS Tahoe. Prices start at €1,849. Available in both space black and silver.

iPad Pro
The new iPad Pro delivers up to 3.5x the AI performance than iPad Pro with M4 and up to 5.6x faster than iPad Pro with M1.
N1, the new Apple-designed wireless networking chip, enables the latest generation of wireless technologies with support for Wi-Fi 7 on iPad Pro.
The C1X modem comes to cellular models of iPad Pro, delivering up to 50% faster cellular data performance than its predecessor with even greater efficiency, allowing users to do more on the go.
The 11″ and 13″ iPad Pro with M5 will be available in silver and space black finishes in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations.
The 11″ iPad Pro starts at €1,129 for the Wi-Fi model, and €1,379 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The 13″ iPad Pro starts at €1,479 for the Wi-Fi model, and €1,729 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
Both the MacBook Pro 14″ and iPad Pro are available for pre-order and will be released on 22 October.

Vision Pro
Apple has had less success with its foray into extended reality with the Vision Pro. At almost $4,500 and released in a handful of countries, it seemed like a full consumer release was either some way off or unlikely to happen at all.
Now Apple is trying again with an upgraded model using the M5 chip.
The new Vision Pro also comes with the soft, cushioned Dual Knit Band for a more comfortable fit, and visionOS 26, which unlocks innovative spatial experiences, including widgets, new Personas (personal avatars), an interactive Jupiter Environment, and new Apple Intelligence.
At time of writing there is no release date or pricing for Ireland.
