Independent supermarket network SuperValu has launched Ireland’s first grocery shopping app. Available for both Android and iPhone users, the app gives customers the ability to shop from a handheld device and still avail of in-store offers.
The app includes barcode scanning, and information on products’ ingredients and nutritional information.
A separate app with hundreds of recipe ideas from the SuperValu.ie site is also available for download.
Grabbers

The team behind creature feature Grabbers chose Belfast-based developers Iglu Media and BillyGoat Entertainment to create a mobile app to promote the movie’s home release.
Play as one of three characters from the film as they battle to protect Mahers Pub from many-tentacled aliens. Includes Game Center integration so you can share scores online.
Taxi Check-in

Not a booking solution to rival other taxi apps, Taxi Check-in collects and shares information about taxis in-car, as a means of verifing its credentials to passengers. By scanning a QR code, users can share information on a car’s reference number; the time and date of pickup; and where from with selected contacts by text message for an extra level of security.
Initially launching in Dublin, the app has been taken on by Xpert Taxis and there are plans for a national rollout.
