More than half of US travellers use AI before and during their trip
Slightly more than half of US travellers and holidaymakers are using some a AI tool like Claude or ChatGPT to plan their trip and for tips and support once they are on the road, according to a new study by industry title PhocusWire.
At the start of 2025 that figure was still at 33%. By the end of the year it was almost 70% higher. By then, the average American traveller had found a companion they apparently no longer wanted to leave at home.
Half of the respondentssaid they stilluse search engines and click through to the underlying websites after viewing AI search results.
The researchers said: “In future, the value of AI is expected to shift from planning to real-time assistance, as travellers need better insight into context.”
