Consultancy group Deloitte has entered into a partnership with Anthropic that will see it set up a centre of expertise to embed AI deep within the organisation.

Some 15,000 employees will be trained towards a formal certification in Claude AI. This should equip them with the skills and resources needed to further spread the AI gospel to all 470,000 employees worldwide.

With this move, the consultancy is embarking on one of the largest business implementations of the technology, which competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Deloitte is also establishing a Claude Centre of Excellence, a hub where specialist staff will develop implementation frameworks and share best practices. The department is also intended to provide technical support to teams working with the new technology.

An important objective is to actually move AI pilots into production. Many organisations struggle to make the leap from experimental projects to operational systems at scale.

The consultancy will develop compliance products and functionalities specifically tailored to heavily regulated sectors. These include areas such as financial services, healthcare, and public services.

The implementation should help consultants to work more efficiently and to develop new services for clients who are themselves struggling with the integration of AI into their organisations.

The question remains to what extent AI will complement the work of consultants or whether a point will be reached at which the technology could replace them.

In recent weeks, Deloitte announced its annual figures. Global revenue rose by 4.8% to $70.5 billion. The Netherlands contributed €1.4 billion to this (up 1.2%).

Hans Honig, CEO of Deloitte Netherlands, says: “The adoption of ‘Headstart’, our self-developed, responsible GenAI model, has reached 87%.”

At group level, the advisory group is investing $3 billion in generative AI by 2030.
