Ancestry.com has confirmed it is to set up a permanent home in Dublin later this year with the signing of a lease for premises on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in the capital. The family history website has rented temporary offices in Ireland since 2011 with 15 people currently employed at the firm.
The expansion includes plans to increase employee numbers to over 50 within two years. The website company will operate its international operations from the new offices from September with staff numbers set to increase across management, Web development, finance and member service agents.
Olivier van Calster, Ancestry.com VP and general manager, international, said: "We are delighted to be opening our new offices at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay and are looking forward to growing our international business from Dublin. Ireland is the perfect location for our international headquarters and was chosen for a number of reasons, not least because of the great availability of talented people, but also because it is a country that has a long history of emigration and plays a significant role in the family history of people across the globe."
Barry O’Leary of IDA Ireland said: "Ancestry.com’s decision… follows a strong flow of investments in recent years in the digital sector and highlights Ireland’s place on the global digital map. It is a welcome addition to the existing dynamic technology cluster in Ireland."
