As part of its Training for People in Employment Programme, FÁS is currently providing eligible private sector employees and self-employed people with funding of 60% of the cost of certain training courses – or 70% if they’re based in the North West of the country.

All four of the IT professional certification programmes provided by ICS SKILLS (the training and certification body of the Irish Computer Society) are now included in the FÁS initiative. The programmes, which have all been designed for IT professionals, are certified training professional (CTP), European certification for informatics professionals) EUCIP, Skillscert and IT Selling Skills.

Speaking about the fact that the courses now qualify for funding, ICS SKILLS professional development manager Mary Cleary said this reconfirmed the high standard of the ICS SKILLS professional certifications. “The benefits that this funding will bring to the sector are considerable, particularly in light of current skills shortages,” she said. “Our focus now is to facilitate all those IT professionals who are interested in achieving certifications.”
