Extreme Networks is collaborating with virtual computing specialist Citrix Systems to integrate server virtualisation in the network through its XNV virtualisation lifecycle management solution, which supports Citrix XenServer and VMware.

Extreme Networks’ XNV virtualisation and cloud architecture provide network-level virtualisation support, including management, reporting, configuration and mobility to enable zero touch management and mobility between the server and network.

The firms say XNV integrates the network management system with the virtualisation management platform to ensure full visibility and synchronisation between the server virtualisation environment and the network.

Citrix’s Gordon Mangione, VP at the data centre and cloud division, notes: “A major challenge in the next phase of virtualisation adoption lies in integration and support for networking functionality. Extreme Networks offers an open-platform approach that enables XenServer customers to tightly integrate server virtualisation with the network, giving users a seamless mobile VM experience in the data centre.”
