As mobile phone companies struggle to keep up with the success of Apple’s app store, operators are increasingly moving towards the idea of adding value to their services through multimedia content. Now mobile network 3 has upped the ante with the launch of Ireland’s first video-on-demand service fully funded from advertisements.
The new service will comprise of a range of mobile videos and games funded through advertising in the form of 10-second adverts placed at the beginning and end of the content video stream.
The service can be found under the ‘Free Stuff’ icon on Planet 3. Initially content will consist ‘candid camera’ style videos, celebrity gossip and short films with other more expected soon.
