Zetes, the supply-chain technology specialist, has enhanced its ImageID traceability solution, Visidot.

Visidot identifies hundreds of barcodes instantaneously and performs shipment verification and other business applications. It also now integrates IP cameras (Gigabit Ethernet) to optimise usage of hardware and software resources and reduce the total cost of ownership.

Based on ImageID technology, Visidot automatically captures large field-of-view images, detecting and decoding multiple barcodes simultaneously with 100% accuracy, the makers claim. At the same time, it compares the barcode information with shipping orders and gives operators real-time visual alerts about discrepancies and about missing or unreadable labels. Digital images are stored for proof of delivery.

Visidot is particularly valuable for the fresh food processing industry, where delivery lead times are short and shipping errors often irreversible. Visidot slashes shipping verification process times with 100% accuracy and no additional tag cost, says Zetes.

The integration of IP cameras enables control of multiple cameras by a single Visidot processing unit located in an IT room, through a Gigabit Ethernet network. This is particularly valuable for dock-door areas with multiple reading points and limited floor space.

Zetes CEO Alain Wirtz notes: “The Visidot solution is unique in the market and offers great benefits to many sectors. The solution integrates very well with the other automatic identification solutions within our portfolio, and offers an effective alternative to RFID in certain environments.”
