Microsoft has released further details of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. After the TechEd North America announcements, Erwin Visser is senior director within the Windows Division, posted on his blog about further features, many of which are tweaked versions of items seen in Windows.

At the TechEd conference, features were announced such as Assigned Access, which limits what can be seen by administered users in the Windows Store, the ability for third party software providers to bundle VPN capabilities, in-built support for Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA-DM) compliant MDM solutions, such as MobileIron or AirWatch, without the need for an agent, Workplace join that allows trusted access to enterprise data, and Remote business data removal.

Added to this in Visser’s blog were Windows to Go Creator, Start Screen Control, DirectAccess, BranchCache, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, AppLocker and Windows Enterprise Side-Loading.

Several of the highlighted features are updates of existing capabilities from previous Windows 7 and 8 releases, such as AppLocker, BranchCache and Direct Access.

The blog post can be seen here.
