On the back of ComReg’s directive to Irish telecoms companies to provide unmetered, flat rate dial-up Internet access to home and business users, UTV Internet has launched two new flat rate Internet access services. Both UTV products are available in the Republic and Northern Ireland to residential and business users and the prices for the services include all call charges. UTVip Lite provides 30 hours Internet access for EUR9.99 and UTVip XL provides at least 180 hours access for EUR24.95.
Residential and business customers can register now for the new services. Users can also pick up CDs with the relevant information at participating Maxol outlets nationwide. UTVip customers can also subscribe to telephony services which give 25 per cent off Eircom standard call rates for local, national and international voice calls and a 5 per cent discount on mobile calls.
Current UTVip customers who wish to switch to the new flat rate services can do so and UTV Internet will be contacting all existing customers to advise them how to avail of the new services. The company has also launched Clicksilver — a residential broadband Internet access service for Ireland. Based on DSL, Clicksilver offers access speeds of up to 512Kbit/s and ‘always on’ connectivity for a set monthly charge of EUR47.50. A once off set-up fee of EUR99 includes a DSL modem, start-up pack and access to a technical support help line.
