UPC stands up to recording industry pressure

UPC has rejected calls for it to block torrent sharing website The Pirate Bay. In a letter from solicitors acting on behalf of music companies EMI, Sony, Warner and Universal the Internet service provider was threatened with legal action should they continue their subscribers access to the controversial service.

Eircom agreed to block the website effective from 1 September after an uncontested hearing before the courts.
