Uber invests $700m in Turkish delivery platform Trendyol Go
Uber is investing heavily in expanding its global reach through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. The ride-hailing giant announced plans to acquire an 85% stake in Trendyol Go, a Turkish food and grocery delivery platform, for $700 million. The move will allow Uber to tap into the fast-growing Turkish market and benefit from Trendyol Go’s impressive performance. Trendyol Go has a national reach, delivering to customers of more than 90,000 restaurants and markets through a network of 19,000 couriers.
In 2024 alone, the platform delivered more than 200 million orders and generated about $2 billion in gross bookings, with a year-on-year growth of more than 50%.
The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2025 and will immediately contribute to Uber’s growth trajectory. Trendyol Go will continue to operate independently, but will eventually integrate features of Uber Eats, further strengthening Uber’s delivery services.
This strategic investment comes after Uber withdrew its $950 million bid for Delivery Hero’s Foodpanda in Taiwan due to regulatory concerns. Looking for new avenues for expansion and to demonstrate its commitment to growth, Uber is actively diversifying its portfolio and exploring partnerships in the autonomous vehicle sector.
In a separate announcement, Uber unveiled a partnership with Pony.ai, a leading autonomous mobility company. Under this partnership, Pony.ai’s Robotaxis will be deployed on Uber’s platform and launched in a major Middle East market later this year. The collaboration aims to tap into other international markets in the future. Riders using the Uber app will have the ability to request rides performed by autonomous vehicles from Pony.ai, marking an important step in the integration of self-driving technology into Uber’s transportation network.
