Text-based microblogging service Twitter has moved its hosting service from Joyent to Verio in the wake of comaplints about quality of service. The move comes after a series of outages during the consumer electronics show and Macworld where bloggers and journalists were unable to provide rolling commentary on keynote speaches from Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Twitter works by letting subscribers keep track of their network of friends via text messages delivered to their mobile phones. By using text messaging posts are not allowed exceed 150 words. Refusing to criticise Twitter for moving providers, Joyent CEO David Young emphasised his company was not embittered by the move and wished them well for the future.
