Vodafone and Sky is launching a mobile TV service in Ireland. From the 15th of June the new service – Sky Mobile TV – will bring a selection of channels, including 24-hour news channels plus sport, entertainment and documentary programmes, to all Vodafone 3G subscribers.
Users will be able to enjoy television programmes even when they are on the move and, for the first time, will have around-the-clock access to live breaking news and sports reports from Sky News and Sky Sports News.
From launch, all Vodafone Ireland customers with 3G handsets will be able to watch Sky Mobile TV on their phones in areas of 3G coverage. There will be three Sky Mobile TV packages offering a combined total of 18 unique channels including Sky One, National Geographic, Discovery, Living and Biography Channel. Some channels will be broadcast ‘as live’ and others will be dedicated ‘made for mobile’ channels, featuring regularly updated blocks of programming. There is also a fourth Vodafone pack available which contains UEFA and Eurosport.
In a special launch promotion, 3G-enabled Vodafone subscribers will be able to access the mobile TV service for free up until September 1st. From September, subscribers will be charged €1.99 per week for each of the Mobile TV packs to which they subscribe. To avail of unlimited access to all channels, customers will be charged a total of €4.99 per week. The four channel packs are: 1. Sky News and Sport Pack: Sky News; Sky Sports News; Discovery Factual; CNN; At the Races (daytime only); National Geographic and Biography.
2. Sky Entertainment Pack: Sky One; Sky Movies Mobile; Cartoon Network; Living; Bravo and Discovery Lifestyle.
3. Sky Music Pack: Kiss; The Box; Kerrang
4. Basic Pack: UEFA Champions League (review) and Eurosport.
