President Donald Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr. have invested in a new drone company, Powerus. This company aims to respond to the growing demand for drones within the US military, especially after the government’s ban on the purchase of new Chinese drones, writes The Washington Post.

Powerus will become a listed company through a merger with Aureus Greenway Holdings, a golf course holding company also backed by the Trump family. The deal gives Powerus access to capital markets, allowing it to expand its production capacity and acquire other drone companies.

The company plans to produce more than 10,000 drones a month, a significantly higher output than most US manufacturers. This goal is in line with the Pentagon’s Drone Dominance initiative, which aims to acquire hundreds of thousands of US-produced drones by 2027.

Powerus, led by CEO Andrew Fox, plans to acquire Ukrainian drone technology to meet the needs of the US military. Co-founder Brett Velicovich, a US Army veteran with experience advising drone companies, highlighted the challenges Ukrainian manufacturers face in exporting their drones.

Despite these obstacles, Powerus said that working with Ukrainian companies and adapting their technology for production in the US will enable them to meet the growing demand for domestically produced drones.
