Tracking Ireland’s MDS trends

Last year, ComputerScope, in association with Ricoh, surveyed more than 200 Irish IT professionals around managed document services (MDS) in Ireland and found that 44% of organisations had a working system in place to effectively manage and retrieve all business documents held across the entire organisation, including hard copy and soft copy.

More than half of organisations had the capability to digitise paper documents into centrally managed soft copies and almost two thirds had policies in place that govern accessing or storing documents for all employees.

A third of Irish organisations said that they spend less than 10 minutes searching for documents, while 30% spent between 10 and 30 minutes and 14% spent between 30 minutes and an hour. A significant 14% spent more than hour. More than three quarters are worried about the increasingly difficult challenge of securely managing all business documents.

However, with the growing popularity of trends such as mobile working and bring your own device (BYOD), and the demands of legislation from the EU around electronic invoicing, new pressures are changing managed document services.

To track these changes and build a more comprehensive picture of the experience of Irish organisations, ComputerScope and Ricoh are once again asking for your help. With a chance to win an iPad, go to ComputerScope.ie/survey to let us know your on-going MDS practises.

The results of the 2013 survey will be contrasted with the previous year and, with the new information, presented as feature in the October issue.
