A year after being acquired by IT services provider Perot Systems, web applications specialist Original Solutions says it has gained more breadth and resilience and has won business in areas where it might not have been considered in the past.

Presenting a bullish overview of the 12 months since the takeover, Perot Systems Ireland managing director John Collins (formerly chief executive officer at Original Solutions), said the firm had expanded staff numbers and increased revenue in the intervening period, sustained its existing business and won new deals.

The acquisition was made because Perot Systems was looking for a business close to the Western European market and Original “wanted something to make us compelling and more attractive to customers”, Collins told Irish Computer.

He said the combined operation was in a strong position because it could offer customers “a global delivery pool” with a local presence: “We are part of a global company with very much a local heritage. We are a funnel for consultancy and relationship management in Ireland bringing a global company to support what the local client needs.”

In addition, linking with Perot Systems had achieved the objective of being able “to offer a broad menu of options to any client”, Collins said.

He said the global development and resilience provided by Perot Systems helped customers feel “they had someone on their side” for the long term. “They want to know they’ve got a risk-averse approach to services. The combination of local and global is our distinction. It’s unique,” Collins claimed.
