Tablet gets Grafigo 2

Pro

Corel has launched the new version of its tablet application — Grafigo 2. Designed specifically for Tablet PCs, Corel Grafigo 2 allows a user to create flow charts and capture white boarding sessions using drawing aids such as line straightening; alignment of line segments, end points and corners; auto-closing of geometrical and non-geometrical shapes; symmetry recognition; and snapping. These new features recognise the shapes users draw with their pen stylus and converts them into perfect forms. In addition to the hand-drawn shapes recognised in version 1.0, Grafigo 2 now recognises arrows and trapezoids. Users can also insert underlays, ‘Onionskins’, text frames and ink strokes from an extensive library. A new ‘Grab It’ tool allows the user to grab content from any application or webpage and bring it directly into Grafigo with only a few taps of the pen. It’s also possible to import multi-page documents from any program that supports printing in Windows on a Tablet PC. These documents can also be converted to underlays so that they can be moved, resized and deleted with ease. As users bring in pages as separate underlays, Corel Grafigo 2 automatically adds them as views to the View Manager toolbar for easy access.

Transparent overlays or ‘Onionskins’ are included for annotating or marking up existing files without altering the original. Grafigo 2 lets users show, hide, lock and unlock ‘Onionskins’ and uses multiple coloured Onionskins, ensuring that different authors can be easily identified in a collaboration session. Using the NetMeeting conferencing program, Corel Grafigo 2 lets users collaborate with colleagues over the Internet in real time. Changes made by one user can be seen simultaneously by all members of the collaboration session, saving time during group projects, brainstorming sessions or whenever input is required from multiple sources. After reviewing and annotating files and documents, use e-mail to send documents directly from the application, creating a highly efficient communication workflow. Views can also be saved as a slide show and can then be opened in an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) viewer. For multi-page documents, Corel Grafigo 2 also provides navigation controls that let users navigate through the views they’ve defined. Grafigo 2 is available to download from the Corel site and retails for EUR82. Multiple licences can be purchased from Micromail in Cork.
