Hosting and data services company Strencom, has announced the launch of a new private ADSL service for businesses and the public sector in Ireland. The managed wide area network (WAN) broadband service will enable companies to connect all of their sites together on a private network using existing phone lines. Strencom said its fast, secure and low-cost solution is already producing tangible benefits for Irish customers such as Kiely’s Electrical, Right Price Tiles and the Irish Cattle Breeders Federation.

The company said it would soon also be in a position to announce major contract wins for this service in the UK.

Following an introduction from a key business partner, PFH Computers, Strencom migrated Kiely’s Electrical onto the new network

The Strencom Private ADSL uses the same technology as broadband internet, enabling data to traverse ordinary phone lines at very high speed and with 24-hour “always-on” availability. With minimal expenditure on equipment – only a router is required on each site – businesses can take advantage of a VPN (virtual private network), without having to send information onto the public internet. Strencom said it will proactively manage each WAN solution from its network management centre in Cork.
