Schneider Electric has announced the availability of three new data centre (DC) Operation Services offerings which are designed to optimise and simplify DC centre operations through each step of the DC life cycle.

The three services, Vendor Management, Managed Maintenance and Facility, are built on expertise from the company’s Data Centre Lifecycle Services portfolio and are vendor-agnostic services employing trained specialists to ensure critical facilities meet design objectives, avoiding costly downtime.

“Once thought of as necessary but expensive cost centres, data centres are now in a position to drive business results and help companies gain a competitive advantage. However, despite increasing system intelligence and automation capabilities, every data centre today still needs to rely on effective operation, maintenance, and management by well-trained, organised people,” said Dale Wrangles, vice president, Schneider Electric, UK and Ireland. “Schneider Electric’s Operation Services has extensive experience in managing mission-critical facilities around the globe, which is becoming increasingly important as data centre managers look to increase performance, reliability and efficiency while minimising risk, and eliminating the complexities of day-to-day operations.”

The company said that services are aimed at maximising equipment availability and reducing downtime, and comprise of three levels of vendor-agnostic services which can help DC operators lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) and enable them to continuously maintain, operate, monitor, and optimise the data centre throughout its life cycle.

With Vendor Management, the service provides a standardised scope of work and single point of contact for the scheduling and dispatch of 24×7 preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance services across all critical infrastructure disciplines, using both OEM and third-party maintenance vendors.

With Managed Maintenance, the service provides an on-site maintenance support service that builds on the offerings provided by Vendor Management and enforces strict change management protocols during the times when a facility is exposed to the greatest levels of risk.

With Facility Operations, the service provides a specialised on-site operations and maintenance management programme, created says Schneider, to meet the demanding requirements of the mission critical facility environment. The provider says that this is a highly evolved programme with a focus on emergency preparedness and response, maintenance management, change management, documentation, safety and training, as well as being standards-based, quality driven, customisable and scalable.

Services are available immediately in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Pricing varies based on the type and combination of services rendered.
