NovaUCD the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at UCD announced it now has 150 entrepreneurs on campus with over 90% of its incubation space already occupied. This figure, NovaUCD claims has been reached a year ahead of schedule.
Nova UCD’s role is to provide entrepreneurs and knowledge-based start up companies with incubation facilities, including bio-incubation space and a comprehensive business support programe. This comprises of consultancy, seminars, advice, individual training and workshops. NovaUCD is also a contact point for companies seeking partners for collaborative research and advice on licensing, commercial opportunities, whilst been responsible for the development of co-operation with industry and business.
NovaUCD, currently 4,000 sq.m. in size including 340 sq.m. of bioincubation space, is responsible for the implementation of UCD policies relating to the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP) arising from UCD’s research programmes and for the provision of advice on the identification, protection and exploitation of this IP. NovaUCD works closely with UCD researchers in taking innovative ideas from proof-of-principle to full commercial success.
