Axon from Spirent Networks is a new system designed to provide inexpensive, risk free testing of new and updated applications, services and the networks over which they run.

The Axon allows testers to validate the performance of applications, network devices and IT services and identify problems long before they become customer issues, in minutes, say the makers. This means that enterprises can successfully deploy new applications and services faster, potentially avoiding downtime.

Axon provides a level of testing previously available only in specially equipped IT labs, argues Spirent. The system’s interface is designed for ease of use, especially where limited expertise is available. Tests can be run in minutes to generate and model realistic traffic scenarios that benchmark and validate the performance of applications and network infrastructure.

When rolling out new services such as video conferencing, VoIP or email upgrades, for example, the IT team can identify and fix problems such as bandwidth limitations, incorrect access control list (ACL) configurations or performance bottlenecks prior to deployment, avoiding expensive post-rollout troubleshooting and problem solving. Using Axon, IT managers and network engineers can provide assurance that new services will perform seamlessly from the start.

Axon further streamlines the testing process using a number of preconfigured templates that can be combined into commonly used lists. The Axon system is deployed in a single rack unit and can be accessed via any web-enabled device, such as a tablet or smart phone.

Axon is available in Ireland from Data Edge.
