Packaging company Smurfit Corrugated Ireland (SCI) has selected Datapac as its maintenance partner for all its computer equipment and internal networks around the country. The contact will cover equipment from a wide range of suppliers.
The company, which has a number of operations around Ireland with a total of 1,000 PCs and 100 servers, required a service partner that could provide a nationwide service. According to Paul Cash, head of IT, SCI depends heavily on business processes that are connected across a diverse supply chain. ‘Because of the nature of our business, we demand guaranteed uptime. We have very strict maintenance requirements for our technology’.
The SCI uses specialist applications from overseas suppliers and where possible Datapac maintains these. ‘Datapac familiarises itself with all our applications including the specialist overseas ones’, continues Paul. ‘If a machine goes down, they rebuild the machine and install the software for us, so it negates the need to fly people in from Europe in most circumstances’.
SCI has a call-tracking system in place to handle service calls and follow their progress.
All calls are placed through Smurfit’s internal help desk, which in turn logs the relevant calls with Datapac’s call centre. Each step of every call is tracked and has a built-in time frame for completion, which helps ensure problems are quickly resolved.
‘Having a reliable partner like Datapac provides peace of mind and a total cost of ownership that is among the industry’s lowest while providing the one of the highest IT maintenance standards’, said Cash.
