A Longford company is seeking to change the way small businesses manage their staff through the use of biometric and cloud technologies.

Elephant Smart Business seeks to replace paper-based systems such as sign-in sheets, sick pay, annual leave, public holiday entitlements and payroll preparation.

Employee attendance is monitored by a touch screen terminal on which employees sign in and out of work, record breaks and leave for work-related business. The system alerts management by text or e-mail if members of the team are not available to work, absent or late, allowing them to make alternative arrangements.

The software – five years in development – also aids the HR and accounts function by creating reports on annual leave, appraisals, absences, payroll, NERA (National Employment Rights Authority) reports, rosters and budgets.
