?iSmart from the Irish software firm eSpatial is a product suite for developing and deploying spatial business applications on Oracle9i Database and Oracle9i Application Server (Oracle9iAS).
It uses Oracle’s spatial technology to enable spatial data, such as that, generated by proprietary geographical information systems, to be incorporated into enterprise applications and accessed from Web and wireless client devices. This data can be in the form of maps, network diagrams or location reports.
The product suite also includes iSmart Studio, an application development environment that allows software engineers, data administrators and even nonprogrammers to design, build and deploy spatial Internet applications online without the need for application-specific source code.
Applications built with this can be used to incorporate spatial data and GIS capability into other CRM and ERP and e-business tools.
By using iSmart, developers are able to store all spatial data in Oracle9i Database. With iSmart, Oracle9iAS enterprise users can use Web and wireless clients to access, manipulate, and edit spatial information resources that are centrally managed, eliminating the integration difficulties associated with proprietary spatial data solutions.
