The Sligo Chamber of Commerce recently held a group initiative inviting new, expanding and relocating companies to consider the benefits of Sligo and the North West.
The event, held at Digital Hub in Dublin, included the Western Development Commission, Enterprise Ireland, Sligo County Enterprise Board, Sligo Leader, IT Sligo and the IDA. The aim of the multi-group initiative was to highlight current developments in the technology sector and to promote Sligo as a possible location.
President of Sligo Chamber Linda Moffitt said: “We need to be positive in our attitudes, innovative in our approaches and our strategies to weather these difficult circumstances and so that when the upturn comes, we will be ready. We have had an overwhelming response to this event showing the desire that remains amongst the Sligo Diaspora, to support Sligo and that’s a very powerful resource for us to reach out to.”
Several companies that have already set up a base in Sligo gave presentations including Sonorplex, Ventisys and Clevermiles.
Project manager of Team Sligo Enterprise Group Ronan Keane said: “Technology companies who locate in Sligo can be confident of securing an excellent supply of staff with the necessary qualifications and experience. In addition to this, staff retention rates in the Sligo region are much higher than those experienced by technology companies in larger urban locations.”
