The ScanMaker 5600 from Microtek is an A4 flatbed scanner suitable for small-office users. The scanner has an optical resolution of 2400 x 4800 dot/in and uses 20kpixel Sigma SixTM CCD technology to scan intricate details with high accuracy, and 48bit colour depth. A built-in 16bit analogue-to-digital converter and ICC Profiler technology are also built into the system.
Five buttons allow easy scanning, copying, image emailing and OCR processing. The USB interface is compatible with Windows 98, 2000, ME and XP, Apple iMac, and new G3 and G4 USB Macs. The ADF-650 can feed 50 A4 pages at a time.
Optional accessories include MTMA (Magnetic Transparent Media Adapter) for scanning a larger area up to 18 x 20cm for 35mm positive and negative film.
The ScanMaker 5600 comes with Microtek’s ScanWizard 5, which allows users to batch scan and save images. With the OCR utility, text documents can be scanned and retrieved for editing.
The ScanMaker 5600 also comes bundled with a full application of Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4.0 for PC, Adobe PhotoShop LE, Ulead PhotoExplorer and Abby FineReader OCR software.
