Feitian, a manufacturer of USB-based security hardware, is looking for distributors to sell and market its products to the trade in Ireland.
The company is headquartered from in China and established an international sales force earlier this year, headed by John O’Mara. ‘Our company standpoint is that we are a lean organisation and our product margin is going to be high,’ he told TechCentral.ie.
The company will support Irish suppliers by providing sample products. Once the channel is established, Feitian will look at making marketing funds available, O’Mara said.
Feitian’s product set is divided into three types: software protection, network security and smart card readers.
The software protection products, ROCKEY4, NetROCKEY, ROCKEY-Plus) are generically called dongles. A dongle is a USB or parallel port device that may be integrated to an application to prevent unauthorised duplication. The ROCKEY4 product is our most mature and is currently the market leader in China. This product is aimed at software developers whose product costs in excess of €100 and is liable to duplication. This type of product is widely used by CAD-CAM companies and others whose pricing would allow for the addition of a hardware key.
The company’s network security products (ePass1000, ePass2000) are generically called ‘tokens’. Feitian manufactures a very small USB device that has a protected memory space for storage of certificates, passwords and other security credentials. The tokens are used for strong authentication services and encryption of email or SSL web transactions. Fietian ships the products with middleware that allows them to be used in a Windows PKI environment without programming.
The smart card readers (ROCKEY100, ROCKEY200) are generic SIM and full size readers. The SIM reader will ship with an application for reading telephone SIM cards. Both are intended for sale to OEMs who would use our PC/SC interface to incorporate the reader into a smart card based system.
