The Top Security Group, a full-service security services provider, is to merge its two IT Security entities under one brand name called TopSec Technology. The move comes six months after Top Security Group confirmed its acquisition of Systemhouse Technology in a deal worth in excess of €7m.
In 2003 the Top Security Group became one of the first Irish security companies to launch an IT security division. Topsec Technology has specialised in providing a range of IT security services including 24 hour monitoring of critical systems as well as web and email content monitoring. The acquisition of Systemhouse has allowed TopSec Technology to further expand its offering.
The Systemhouse offering will form a new division within TopSec Technology which will specialise in the provision of corporate antivirus systems and supply many of Ireland’s leading government, semi-state and private sector bodies. TopSec will also inherit the Systemhouse standing as the largest supplier of broadband communications equipment in the country.
According to Emmet O’Rafferty, Chairman of the Top Security Group, ‘Today’s announcement marks a significant stepping stone in the development of the Top Security Group. Since our acquisition of Systemhouse Technology the business synergies between the company and our existing IT Security division, TopSec Technology became obvious, leading us to take the decision to merge the two companies under the one brand name—TopSec Technology.’

TopSec Technology is based in Dublin’s Citywest Business Campus where the company’s Secure Operations Centre is manned by highly trained staff that provide clients with remote monitoring of critical network devices and servers, as well as e-mail content and Internet usage. The company alerts clients to problems using pro-active and predictive technology and methodologies to predict potential failure scenarios and ensure early recognition of problems so they can be resolved quickly before they impact business.
The new division of TopSec Technology will be managed by former Chief Executive of Systemhouse Technology, Dermot Williams.
