The 2400×4800 dpi, 48bit colour depth CanoScan 5200F is a new film and document scanner from Canon. It comes with a 6-frame Film Adapter Unit for high volume film scanning and this allows up to six 35mm unmounted negatives or four 35mm mounted slides to be scanned in a single operation.
The product includes Canon’s infra-red FARE Level 2 technology which automatically detects and removes dust and scratches on spoiled film.
A USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection on the 5200F works together with a new, faster scanning engine to deliver fast scan speeds on both Windows1 and Mac2 operating systems.
The 5200F comes with four ‘EZ’ buttons for single step functionality for common operations such as scanning to email. Also included is a Fast Multi-Photo mode which creates separate de-skewed files from a single pass scan of multiple photographs.
The CanoScan 5200F has a diamond-pixel CCD sensor which gives the scanner sharp, high quality scans. The product also comes with a quiet mode which reduces acoustic noise levels from 53dB to 47dB, improved, easy-to-use film guides and a software bundle which includes ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5 image-editing program and OmniPage SE OCR 2.0.
