Small businesses bemoaning the lack of fast Internet access can now avail of a broadband service that is not confined to any area of the country.

Internet service provider Digiweb has launched a satellite-based access offering. The two-way, always-on service runs at speeds of up to ten times faster than dial-up connections-512kbit/s.

Unlike with other broadband offerings, the satellite service is not confined to particular areas of the country such as urban test areas. Digiweb claims that users can connect to it at anywhere within Ireland. Businesses pay a flat monthly fee. There is an introductory offer of EUR119, with no usage charges applied.
