If these lesser known devices are to have any chance of attracting consumers, they have to offer something slightly different to their competitors. While the Sansa offers good value, we’re not sure it’s enough to lure people away from, say, an Ipod Nano.
The 2Gb player can play MP3 and WMA files, as well as files downloaded from online music stores such as Eircom Net and Itunes.
There’s a built-in microphone, and its battery life is impressive at around 11 hours on a single AAA battery. File transfer is done in Windows Media Player or In Windows itself.
Sound quality was good, and the menu system intuitive. The downsides included the small screen, slow scroll speed and the headphones which were poor.
That said, it’s a nifty player that’s good value for money, but perhaps, the style-conscious might have a problem with it.

If you overlook the dodgy design and the poor headphones it’s a fairly good player.
