Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra, the company’s latest flagship smartphones. The differences from their predecessors are relatively minor, the main emphasis being on refinements and new software features.

Visually, all three phones are mainly an evolution of the S25 series: with rounded corners, a thin chassis and a unified camera island. All models use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip (with Samsung tweaks).

The regular Galaxy S26 gets a slightly larger battery (around 4300 mAh) than its predecessor, while the Plus and Ultra models retain similar capacity.

Samsung is further betting heavily on AI features via One UI 8.5: think smart suggestions, improved image and photo editing tools and more extensive creative tools that use generative AI. Circle to Search with Google on the Galaxy S26 series has been upgraded with improved multi-object recognition, so users can now search “deeper” on multiple parts of an image at once. When users see a look they like, the feature identifies everything from the jacket to the shoes in one search.

The real improvements mainly come via AI-driven processing software that should make photos and videos perform better. Samsung promises wider apertures and improved night video stabilisation on the Ultra camera.

The Ultra’s most striking innovation is the so-called Privacy Display. With one tap, you ensure that the screen is only clearly visible to those sitting directly in front of it; people looking in from the side see virtually nothing. You can also have this feature turned on automatically in specific situations, such as when opening a particular app or while entering a password. In addition, it is possible to shield incoming notifications, while the rest of the screen remains visible as usual.

Presales of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26+ and S26 start on 25 February and run until 10 March. The new devices will be in shops from March 11.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is available at a recommended retail price starting from €1,449, the Galaxy S26+ costs €1,249 and the Galaxy S26 is available at a recommended retail price starting from €999. The Galaxy S26 now has 256GB of storage as standard, previously the base variant of the S series started with 128GB.
