While Samsung used to consistently present its latest Galaxy Notes during the summer months a few years ago, that role has now been taken over by its foldable devices. In New York, the company has just launched the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, alongside a large number of new smartwatches.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7

The first thing that stands out about the Galaxy Z Fold7 – a smartphone you can unfold like a tablet – is that the bezels are even thinner than those of previous models.

Weighing just 215 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When folded, it is only 8.9mm thick, and 4.2mm when unfolded. The device comes with a 6.5″ Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover screen, and a wider display with a new 21:9 aspect ratio.

Unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold7 becomes more than just a smartphone. It transforms into a completely different device, with a large screen for more workspace to edit, multitask, and enjoy ‘immersive viewing’ – and to get more out of Galaxy AI. The main screen of the Galaxy Z Fold7 is 11″ larger than that of the previous generation.

With Vision Booster and a maximum peak brightness of 2,600 nits, the Galaxy Z Fold7 remains, as Samsung puts it, ‘brilliantly visible’, even in direct sunlight.

The cover screen features Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a new glass-ceramic with crystals intricately integrated into the glass matrix. This ensures the robustness of the screen, prevents cracking, and offers protection in a remarkably thin form factor.

The main screen has been updated and is now thinner and lighter, yet stronger. This was achieved by adding a layer of titanium. Additionally, the Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) is 50% thicker, making the screen more robust.

Samsung also took a moment to highlight the camera performance. With the first 200MP wide-angle camera in the Galaxy Z series, this device captures 4x more detail and images are 44% brighter. The 10MP 100° camera on the main screen offers a wider frame, so when users unfold their phone, they can easily capture group selfies in a single shot.

You can edit photos with Photo Assist, which can move, erase, or enlarge objects, adjust angles, and fill backgrounds with AI-driven precision.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is available for pre-order starting and will be generally available from 22 July. The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and Mint (online only), with a recommended retail price starting at €2,099.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is a compact AI phone small enough to fit in your pocket, yet with a camera that, according to Samsung, delivers top performance.

Content flows elegantly from edge to edge across the so-called FlexWindow display of the Galaxy Z Flip7, with essential information prominently displayed.

Its 4.1″ Super AMOLED FlexWindow is the largest screen ever on a Galaxy Z Flip, with edge-to-edge usability allowing users to see and do more on the cover screen.

With a peak brightness of 2,600 nits and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate on both the main screen and the FlexWindow, the Galaxy Z Flip7 enables ultra-smooth scrolling, streaming, and gaming.

Weighing just 188 grams and only 13.7 mm thick when folded, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is the thinnest Galaxy Z Flip to date, though still on the heavier side. The cover screen and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The 4,300 mAh battery is the largest ever in a Galaxy Z Flip and provides up to 31 hours of video playback on a single charge.

With the Flip7, Samsung is mainly targeting female consumers, although that appears to be easier said than done, as they tend to prefer Apple smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is available for pre-order starting, and will also be generally available from 22 July. The Galaxy Flip7 FE is available in Black or White, with a recommended retail price of €999.

Smartwatches

Samsung has also introduced the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic. This series builds on the so-called cushion design of the Galaxy Watch Ultra and is the thinnest Samsung Galaxy Watch ever.

The internal structure of the Galaxy Watch8 has been completely redesigned and the assembly options for components have been improved by 30%, resulting in an 11% thinner design.

Samsung Galaxy Watch8

Even when you’re outside in bright sunlight, the screen is, according to Samsung, 50% brighter with a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits.

The watches are once again equipped with health features. If your stress level remains (too) high, High Stress Alert immediately sends a signal, so you can take a break to manage your stress levels in real time. With the Mindfulness Tracker, you can log your mood and receive guidance on breathing exercises to relieve your stress – right on your wrist.

The Galaxy Watch8 series is the first smartwatch equipped with Wear OS 6 and Google Gemini built-in for ease of use on the go. Use hands-free natural voice commands to perform various tasks. For example, if you’re ready to start your workout or plan your next fitness goal, just say: “Start a 300-calorie circuit workout,” or “Go for a 20-minute run,” just as you would say to a person. The Watch then seamlessly starts the workout in Samsung Health.

The Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and the new Galaxy Watch Ultra is available for pre-order in selected markets. The Galaxy Watch8 is available for a recommended retail price starting at €379 (40mm model) and €409 euros (44mm model), Galaxy Watch8 Classic for a recommended retail price starting at €509, and Galaxy Watch Ultra for a recommended retail price of €699.
