Recruitment specialist, NewMedia CV has issued a new survey which shows that salary levels in the IT sector have now peaked. In sharp contrast to this time last year when salaries rose dramatically, levels are now generally static as companies keep a tight hold on the purse strings.

The latest salary and recruitment market report, entitled, ‘Cease-fire in the war for talent’ also reveals that the recruitment market has undergone a significant downturn since January 2001 with graduates, marketing, mid-range Java developers, contractors, front-end content staff and senior management being hit the hardest. The net effect of this is that recruiters now have their pick of candidates.

While there are still shortages at the higher technical skill and experienced middle management levels, some organisations are also taking the opportunity to replace lower performing candidates.
