Sage has launched a new cloud based service, Sage One that is aimed at sole traders and microbusinesses. With a low monthly charge and no contract, the service can provide traders with up to date reports of profitability, expenses and revenue.

Comprising of three services, Sage One Cashbook provides users with the ability to manage customer and supplier data, transactions and bank entries, all of which can be shared with an accountant.

Sage One Accounts provides the ability to create invoices, prepare VAT returns and view summary snapshots of business performance. Sage One Accountant Edition gives accountants for the client businesses anywhere, anytime access to the relevant data, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients.

Liam Mullaney, CEO, Sage Ireland, emphasised that through a beta process, the service was refined with user feedback to make the interface intuitive and easy to use. As an example, Mullaney said that what had been the dashboard view was renamed ‘summary’, as the title made more sense to more users.

In support of the claims of ease of use and intuitiveness, Sage said that the service does not require formal training, but does offer 24×7 support.

“We believe service and support,” said Brian McIntyre, head of R&D, Sage Ireland, “are just as important as software. We understand that the type of business that needs Sage One doesn’t necessarily work nine to five, which is why Sage One comes with 24×7 telephone support. We will be there anytime to provide advice, reassurance and guidance.”

The Cashbook service costs €6 per month plus VAT, the Accounts service is €12 per month plus VAT and the Accountant Edition is free to all
