Quarterly growth sees UPC expanding in the Irish market

UPC the home entertainment and broadband provider are seeking to cement its position as superior broadband provider in the Irish market. This year the firm have enjoyed an 11% growth in total service subscriptions compared to the same period last year. This period of growth has amounted to its 811,700 service subscriptions with continued growth in the areas of Digital TV, Broadband and Home Phone.

Dana Strong the recently appointed CEO of UPC Ireland is pleased at the results and feels that UPC Ireland is in a strong position. She commented that, “UPC Ireland had record growth in the first quarter of this year, with total subscriptions increased by 26,000. Broadband and Voice growth continue to be particularly strong at 34% and 58% respectively year on year.”

UPC intend to maintain this growth by committing to ‘redefine’ the Irish broadband market, this will mean introducing a 25Mb standard entry level speed for customers. Their digital bundle campaign, launched in January of this year has been a resounding success and is considered the root of such strong growth. The campaign saw a digital bundle comprising of Digital TV, Phone and 20Mb Fibre power broadband for €65.

UPC has invested over €400 million in their Fibre Power network and recent network upgrade has led to higher broadband speeds in over 500,000 homes in Ireland. These investments will be From May 9th a new broadband package is being introduced in hopes to claim a further percentage of the market. UPC’s entry bundle will be available from €60 for Digital TV, Phone and a fast 25 Mb Fibre power Broadband.
