A number of Ireland’s finest indigenous software companies have launched a new viral campaign, IT’s Happening Here, to highlight the 2,500 jobs currently available in the Irish-owned IT sector. Together with Enterprise Ireland the initiative has been created to highlight job opportunities in the sector.

Commenting on the initiative, project leader Jarlath Dooley said: "The indigenous sector doesn’t have the recruitment budgets of the multi-nationals and very often, can’t afford to use recruitment agencies either. This means they can get pushed out of sight of job seekers. IT’s Happening Here is a positive step for the indigenous IT companies to develop their own brand and continue to create the type of jobs Ireland needs for the future."

Among the companies involved are Version 1, Adaptive Mobile, iQuate, Realex and Redwind. A forum is also planned, involving a number of these indigenous companies aimed at identifying other means of building the talent pool for this sector and thereby providing a base upon which the industry can grow.
